christmas and more....

So back on December 19th, I turned 21. It's kind of hard to believe I'm 21 and I'll be graduating at the end of the year (December). Anyway, around 4:30 on the 19th, Katie, Connor, me, and Jenna (Jeny) embarked on our road trip. Our plan was to drive to St. George and stay in Connor's grandparents condo there for the night, and then drive the next day to southern California. Unfortunately it took us an hour to get on I-15 and then many more hours to get to St. George--thanks to the snow. The next day we drove to California and got to my Grandma Baker's around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I don't feel like writing about the specifics of the trip (because it would take 7 years and I don't think people would really care). But it was super fun and I saw a ton of family (most of Darryl and Lisa's family, Derek & Denise's family, Dave and Carise's family, and Gail and Kevin's family). We also spent 3 days at Disneyland/California Adventure. They were way fun and we picked the best days to go--the longest line we ever waited in was like 20 minutes. One day, Katie & Connor, Allie, me, and Molly went on the Tower of Terror ride. Before we actually got on the ride, we won these dream fast-passes that gave us fast passes for every ride at Disneyland and California adventure (and we could use them anytime that day). Lots of fun.

When I got back to Utah, I had nothing to do so I watched lots of TV and movies and relaxed a ton. For new years, I got to hang out with Ann & Ron's family. Well, Ann, Mandi (& Nick) weren't there, but it was way fun to see the rest of the family. I hadn't seen them in like 8 years! I had such a good time. We didn't do anything intense, but it was so fun to just spend time with family and eat yummy food and stuff. The next day, we went and visited Mandi and Nick and got to see their adorable baby boy, Jude. Stephanie took some pictures:

So, this semester is a bit overwhelming but that's okay. It's my last semester of classes before I student teach in the fall. I am taking Math 300 (history of math), my practicum (practice teaching basically--and we are starting to teach a class at Timpview High School on the 26th), classroom management, 2 church history classes, and social dance (the second level). The classes are fun and I like them, but my practicum just takes a lot of time. Its only 4 credits total but I have 9 hours of class a week and a ton of reading and other assignments. I'm also working about 13-14 hours a week as a Math 110 TA (which I did last semester too). I teach 4 labs, and it's pretty intense and stressful at times, but I think it is way good prep for me since I'll be teaching in the fall. I'm taking one of my church history classes with Connor (my brother in law) and my dance class with Jenna. It's fun because I've never been in a class with a family member before.

Okay, this post is long enough. I'll post more when my life gets exciting. Please comment :).

I was planning on commenting before I even got to the end - you didn't have to convince me! First, I love the family pictures!! Second, I'm so glad you had such a great time at Disneyland and that the lines were so short. Third, I laughed about the 'history of math' class. I shouldn't be surprised, but I was, that they offer a class about that. Good luck this semester!

Timpview High School is my high school! A bit of advice... don't take it personally if your students resent having a student teacher. It isn't you. It is more that Timpview students CONSTANTLY have student teachers and not having your regular teacher gets old fast. So, trust me, it isn't you, just the situation. Not that you'll even have a problem. Maybe your class will be great, but just in case.

For example, I had seven periods. I often had 2-3 student teachers at a time through out the year.

What a fun vacation. I am mad that you were in St. George and didn't stay with ME! But I will forgive you. This time. I am so excited for you to get into teaching more. My student teaching was so great (I had a good class, so my actual first year of teaching was WAY hard). I hope you can handle your load okay this sememster.
PS: The Tower of Terror is the best ride ever! I think we went on it at least 7 or 8 times when we went there.
