avoiding school and enjoying life

So...let's be honest. I've been avoiding schoolwork all weekend. I think something about a 3-day weekend makes me feel like I can procrastinate. Usually I am so good about being self-motivated and working hard, but that will all have to wait for tomorrow.

So Friday night my ward was involved in this tri-ward Friday the 13th Formal Dance. It was so fun! My mom mailed me my prom dress and shoes (they totally light up when I walk...I know, I'm so cool). My roommate Nichelle did my hair. So we went and everyone was totally dressed up--some of the boys even wore a tux! The food was amazing. There was a ton of fruit and vegetables and dip, some chips, salsa, bean dip, bread and this spinach artichoke dip...and then a "bar" where they made these yummy strawberry slushies...and a chocolate fountain with cookies, rice crispies, pretzels, strawberries, and more. It was delicious. I could have stayed and eaten food all night, but I only did it for like half of the time :). The dance was fun too but I wasn't in the mood to hardcore dance. But I had a good time. Here are some pictures:

So then on Saturday I basically sat around and didn't do anything. Okay, I did some stuff. I went to the gym with Katie in the morning (we go about 3 times a week), and then we went grocery shopping, and then Jenna and I went to a service project where we worked with special needs kids (like kids with down syndrome) and helped them decorate valentines bags and then we exchanged valentines with them. They were so cute. This one girl loved Jenna. Jenna loved how blunt the kids were with her; one kid just came up to her and said "why you bald?" Fantastic. I'm sure everyone else was wondering and just wouldn't ask. Anyway, that got over and when I got home it was like 1. Then my roommates went to the cannon center (since it's super nice now!) and ate for a solid hour and a half. Yum. I ate like 5 desserts. Haha. And then we just sat around and talked for hours until we went to my friend Abby's "Valentine's Toga Party." Basically we all wore bed sheets around us like togas...unfortunately I don't have any pictures. We played ridiculous games and it was just super fun.

So yeah, life is good.

You are pretty much entertaining. You should have put up a picture of your shoes, they are so cool. That's adorable that you and Jeny did that service project thing. Well, have a nice life. Love ya.

I love your dress - and the fact that your shoes light up is awesome! If it makes you feel better, the first Valentines I ever had a boyfriend was actually after I was married. (I guess that's only technically true. But I think I'll blog about that one.)

Your dress is beautiful! Yay that you got to use it again. :) College life is so fun! Mommy life is fun too, but in a totally different way. :) And that's awesome that you and Jeny are working with those special needs kids. That's something I wish I got more involved in while I was at BYU.

You look gorgeous! Gosh you made me hungry talking about all that food.. which happens to be all my favorite. It sounds like you've been having a ton of fun!

I love that you get to hang out with your sisters. But it sounds like you had a fabulous weekend. I would say avoiding school work sounds like it paid off. I love your dress--you look fabulous. And I love your roommates name. I have always been planning that name for my first girl (well, her middle name anyway).
