classics from babysitting

I babysat for a long time today. At least it was entertaining. I was watching two boys--ages 4 (Luke*) and 7 (Zach*).

Some great moments:

Luke was laying in his bed/fort. He looked really sad, so Zach got into the fort with him.
Luke: You know what?
Zach: What?
Luke: I'm sad. Because no one likes me.
Me: I'm sure people like you. I like you.
Luke: None of my friends like me.
Luke: So I quit. I quit going to their houses.
[Wait, is he a 4-year-old boy, or a 16-year-old girl?]

We were playing a fun game which involved hide and seek and killing bad guys with swords and shields. Basically, Zach hid while Luke and I killed a bunch of bad guys, and then we went and saved Zach by using a special weapon or special anti-freezing powder or something.

This is before we started playing.
Luke: We have to kill the bad guys. You know something?
Me: What?
Luke: There's one-hundred fourty-eight one-hundred sixty-nine seven of them.
Zach: I don't think that's even a number. I think the biggest number is a google thousand. Is that it?

Right after Luke and I went in the hall to go find the bad guys.
Me: Look, a bad guy! [I start swinging my sword into the air and making killing noises.]
Luke: Dude, there's no bad guys here.
[Whoops.]

I found a purple shiny purse in Luke's room, so I asked him what it was for. It was for his money.
Zach: He actually has money. He has a quarter and two pennies.
Me: Luke, how did you get money?
Luke: I pooped.
[Potty-training tricks exposed.]

Randomly...
Zach: I'm an expert dancer.
Luke: I'm an expert mexican hat dancer. Watch!
[Where do kids come up with stuff like this?]

So since I don't have kids, I blogged about someone else's kids. Pretty funny, though, eh?

*Names have been changed.

Those are some pretty awesome stories! Did you share all those with their parents? :)

Kids are funny. I have no idea where they come up with stuff. I love how you went all out playing make-believe with them. What a good babysitter you are!

It's been kind of fun finding out who reads my blog! I need your email address to send you the invite--just leave it in the comments. And, what's Molly's email? She wants an invite too, but I don't have her address either.
